Eheh whenever i listen to Half Es and Kazui Mix i always envision them singing side by side. Es leaning more to Kazui's side while rhe old man is just looking amused or smth. Their body swaying left and right while listening to the song, maybe occasionally bumping Kazui a few times but they dont particularly apologize for it. Old man doesnt mind Es's antics but is a little amused at it.

I feel like Es would just lean into Kazui near the end of song, which would create questions at the old mans head but he wouldn't push it. Instead he ops to focus on the emo lyrics thats displayed in front of him. then he would notice that Es is acting awfully quiet and take a quick glance on their face. only to see them fully awake, with the mic inches away from their face. and then and then ARGH THERES SO MANY DETAILS. should i make this knto a one-shot??????

anyways i rarely see any kazui and es crumbs. i need to see this old geezer act like a dad to the young ones. its always shidou bro LIKE KAZUI STOP RUNNING AWAY FROM CHILD SUPPORT AND HELP U OLD MAN!!!! ok why do like all the ace attorney fans on the internet seem to not understand how law school works? like i'm not annoyed they don't know or whatever so much as confused. is this not common knowledge?

so we're clear, in america, a JD (law degree) is a graduate-level degree. you get an undergrad degree in whatever you want and then go to three years of law school after that. someone who knows they want to study law might choose to major in something relevant like poli sci, or pre-law if your college has that major, but you can major in anything and go to law school.

so like. i really think the most reasonable assumption is that phoenix got his bachelor's degree in illustration or theater or whatever art he was studying and then went to law school after that, and maybe he decided to take some classes about like public policy and stuff as electives (although i'm inclined to believe that when he says he's studying to be a lawyer he's referring to studying for the LSATs). i don't see why he'd need to switch majors.

and i really don't care that much about this, it just confuses me that people keep talking about him changing degrees? like i thought people understood this about law school. it's like in legally blonde.

anyways i don't know much about how it works in japan but a cursory wikipedia search seems to suggest that prior to 2004, no degree at all was required to take the bar exam, and a law degree wasn't really a thing (and now law school there works pretty similarly to the US). so phoenix saying he’s studying to be a lawyer on the side is a perfectly logical thing and still wouldn't involve changing majors. but i think the english-speaking ace attorney fans are generally thinking of how it works in america since that's where the localization is set.
